What We Believe
God
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19). We believe God the Father is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe in Jesus, His Son, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. (Luke 1:26-38). We believe in His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), His atoning death (Hebrews 9:25-28), and His glorious resurrection (Luke 24:1-7, Acts 1:1-3). We believe in (and look forward to the day) that He will come again to complete His saving work. (Revelation 22:7-21). We believe in the Holy Spirit, and His regenerating and sanctifying work in the heart of sinful men.
The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, inerrant and infallible, fully encompassing God’s revelation for our salvation, and the final authority in matters of faith and practice. We believe the Scriptures are profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16).
Humanity
We believe God created man, male and female, in His image and originally created them free from sin. (Genesis 1:31). We believe man fell into sin, which makes us spiritually dead. (Genesis 3:6, Ephesians 2:1). We believe the heart of man is deceitful above all things (Jeremiah 17:9), and that God eternally redeems those who repent of sin and believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior. (Mark 1:15, Romans 10:8-10).
Salvation
We believe that God, and God alone, is the author of salvation, and that man can only be saved by the grace of God, through faith. (Ephesians 2:8). We believe salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone and not of any work or merit on our own part. We believe in the transforming power of the gospel (Romans 6:4-11) and that it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).
Christian Life
We believe that faith without works is dead (James 2:17), and that Christians are accountable to God for living a life of repentance and faith by glorifying Him through our actions. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (2 Corinthians 3:17-18).
Church
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across races, genders and classes. (Galatians 3:26-28, Colossians 3:11). We believe the church is a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe the church is called to proclaim to all creation (in word and deed) the redemptive work of Christ. (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16).
